Welcome to the Dee

The Dee is renowned as one of the great salmon rivers of the world. Anyone who has ever cast a fly for Atlantic salmon will know the allure of this wonderful river.

Today we have the privilege of welcoming anglers from all over the world who come in search of the ultimate prize: a Dee springer taken on the fly.

The character of the river makes it ideal for fly fishing. It's fast flowing, crystal clear waters are home to a succession of salmon pools that provide the angler with some of the finest fly water in Europe.

As the great John Ashley Cooper once wrote about the Dee, 'it is hard to know what better type of water a keen fly fisherman could ask for.' Despite a couple of difficult seasons, the Dee is a magnet for the dedicated fly fishermen.

Dee Dram

The River Dee Trust have developed the Dee Dram brand independently and produced a limited edition of 405 bottles from a single cask. Each bottle is individually numbered making them a rare and interesting gift. This first edition will also be of interest to whisky collectors. All profits go directly to the River Dee Trust.

Bottles cost £46.50 and are available from the Deeside Drinks Emporium - 01330 822650. Mainland UK delivery for the whisky is available for £8 first class recorded.

Given reasonable conditions summer and autumn salmon and grilse provide excellent sport throughout the river.

Catches have fluctuated in recent years. The 2013 and 2014 seasons were disappointing, yet 2010 and 2011 produced some of the best fishing the river had seen in 30 years.

While we can't predict the future we can guarantee that anglers will receive a warm welcome, excellent service all set amidst a stunning natural environment of Royal Deeside.
