Fishing Competition The SFCA is delighted to announce that the hugely successful and popular Ayrstrike competition will continue in 2010 and that qualifiers for the final will commence on Sun 22 Nov 09.

Venues for 2009

Availability of venues in Scotland capable of hosting 20-peg qualifiers still remains a major limiting factor, but I am still committed to achieving a spread of fixtures to allow everyone an opportunity to qualify for the final.

A public draw for ticket allocation will be conducted at Magiscroft Fisheries, Nr Cumbernauld on Fri 20 November 09 commencing at 1630 hrs. Individuals who are not fortunate enough to be allocated a ticket, or the number of tickets they have paid for, will be refunded any unallocated entry fees.

Ayrstrike Qualifier

Professional Angler's Association (Scotland) coach John Rae (54) from Wishaw won the 7th qualifier in the first Ayrstrike competition.

Ticket draw procedures

The draw for each qualifier will be done in date order. All entries for the first qualifier will be entered into draw. The first 20 entry forms drawn will form the field for that event. All entries for the second qualifier will then be entered into the draw. The first 20 entry forms drawn will again form the field for that event. This process will continue until all places have been filled or until the number of entrants has been exhausted. At this point the following process will be followed.

a. If there are still individuals who have not been successful in being allocated a place, the same draw process will be followed again with two reserves being selected for each qualifier. These individuals will be offered places in the order in which they were drawn in the event that one of the original field withdraws prior to the event. Reserves who are not called forward to fish a qualifier will have their entry fee for that event refunded.

b. In the event that there are insufficient entries to fill all 200 qualification places, at the point when all entrants have been allocated the number of places that they have entered the main draw will end. The names of individuals who have paid for entry but been unsuccessful in obtaining tickets at a venue of their choice will be placed in a new draw and will be draw one at a time to provide an order of merit. These individuals will then be contacted in the order in which they were drawn and offered places at alternate qualifiers. Any tickets remaining at the end of this process will be re-advertised on a first come first served basis.

Fees

The competition entry fee per qualifier (payable on registration) is £15.00.

100% of all entry fee monies received will go into the prize pot for the final. If all tickets are sold the pot will be a minimum of £4800.00.

Qualifier day ticket (payable on booking in at venue) will vary according to the venue. Pools payable on booking in at venue £10.00 (paying 1st 50%, 2nd 30% and 3rd 20%).

Qualification

The winner from each qualifier will go through to the final at Spring Water Fisheries, Nr Ayr. In the event that a qualifier is unable to compete in the final, his/her place will be offered to the runner up from the qualifier, or the section of the double header qualifier, that he or she won.

Rules

The competition will be run to SFCA Match Rules tempered by local venue restrictions.
