Ayrshire is very accessible by all modes of transport. There are excellent road, rail, air and sea links.
From Glasgow and the central belt the easiest road access is via the M77 then A77 which passes through Ayr and follows the coast all the way down to Stranraer. From the south the best route is via the M74 then the A70 from Douglas to Ayr. Alternatively the A76 from Dumfries runs directly to Kilmarnock.

There is an excellent and frequent rail service from Glasgow to Stranraer with stops in all towns. The inland line from Dumfries connects the towns in East Ayrshire, such as Cumnock and Kilmarnock with the coastal route, and Glasgow and beyond.
