Summary

Galston Angling Club control fishing on approx. 3 miles double bank on the River Irvine.

Description

Fishing is from 15th March through until 15th November.

The River Irvine is a spate river with Galston in the mid to upper reaches of the river. There is easy access from Glasgow and the central belt via the M77 which is close by.

Salmon are caught at Galston from June onwards. Fishing by Fly, spinning and worm are allowed but shrimp fishing is not allowed under any circumstance.

Club rules dictate that anglers may keep 1 clean fish per day with a maximum of 5 fish per season. All salmon caught in November must be returned. Due to conservation efforts, the club recommends that all sea trout be returned to the river throughout the season.

The fishing includes 25 named pools, favourite pools include The Bear, Dug Track, Ross Court, Raws, Whinny, Rock Pool and The Chessie. A map of the beat will be provided when booking. Most of the beat fishes best from the left bank although some pools also fish from the right bank. There is also some good brown trout fishing on the Galston A.C waters including the lower stretches of the Cessnock Water. Permit prices are the same.

All permits must be printed off and carried when fishing. This must be produced to any local angler or Bailiff who asks to see it.
