Overview

Dalreoch Estate offers salmon and sea trout fishing over three main beats on the River Stinchar in the South West of Scotland. The river has a wide range of classic fly water set in the quiet rural surroundings of the Stinchar Valley.

The main beats of Dalreoch, Almont and Bardrochat are situated upstream of Colmonell Bridge and supply the angler with mostly double bank fishing over 3.78 miles.

Bardrochat Beat: Bardrochat has double bank fishing for 1 mile upstream of Colmonell Bridge to Burnfoot. It has single bank fishing for 0.39 miles downstream of Colmonell Bridge. The beat is syndicated and can comfortably fish three rods. It is well maintained with a path running along its length and one fishing hut. Day tickets may be available for this beat.

Dalreoch Beat: The main beat on the estate accommodates 6 rods over 1 ½ miles of double bank fishing. With 11 named pools and a mixture of runs and glides the beat offers classic fly water along its entire length. The beat is well maintained and has three fishing huts. Day tickets are available.

Almont Beat: Situated immediately above the Dalreoch Beat, Almont has ¾ of a mile of water. Slightly different in character from its neighbour, the beat has five named pools and some enticing runs. Day tickets may be available.

The Stinchar is a spate river known to produce excellent sport in the right conditions. Traditionally the main runs of salmon entered the river from July to October. However with run times changing across the country the river also offers the chance of a tide fresh springer during the month of May and some excellent sport from June until the end of the season with a six year average (2018 – 2023) of 40 salmon and 13 sea trout.

Prices are very modest throughout the season at £50 for a day ticket. The season runs from 25th February to 31st October.

Fishing is by fly only, and all fish must be released. All anglers must follow the beat rules and the Stinchar District Salmon Fishery Board code of practice.
