Pleased to report that we have received a significant rise in water which should help to clear the system out and encourage the first good run of salmon from the estuary. Middle and lower river beats should be
fishable by Friday, although Hoddom and Cleuchhead may be best left until Saturday to give the river more time to clear properly.
The long-term forecast suggests that we will enjoy good sea trout fishing conditions into next week with warm, settled evenings. It will be interesting to see if the evening trout fishing also improves after this good flush of water. The season has been very challenging for trout anglers so far and it would nice to go out on a high note with some decent evening rise fishing.
We have a sea trout fishing workshop scheduled for Saturday 30th June as part of Fishpal's National Sea trout Event. Starting with casting workshops in the morning, AAPGAI's Derek Kelly will explain the application of single and double hand casting techniques. Anglers will then fish the river to familiarise themselves with the pools before taking an early evening break for a BBQ. Anglers can then fish on until midnight.
Cost is £25 per person and bookings are filling quickly, please contact Tony Donnelly via firstname.lastname@example.org to book your place before it's too late.
Will post soon.
