The owners will appoint one experienced guide to meet the fishing party on arrival in Reykjavik Iceland. The guide will travel and assist on the very first fishing day (cost inclusive in the price of the rods). Optionally, a guide can be hired for the remaining fishing days for a fixed price.
The first fishing day always starts in the afternoon at 16:00 and fishing must stop at 12:00 noon on the last fishing day.
On the first day, please arrive between 14:00 and 16:00 at the Laekjarmot fishing lodge.
The lodge has 4 double bedrooms with fully made up beds (sleeps 8 people), a fully equipped kitchen, 2 bathrooms and a hot tub. The local farmer can help if something regarding the lodge needs attending to. Optionally, full service food and drinks can be provided with extra cost.
Fishing hours are maximum 6 hours in the afternoon and 6 hours in the morning depending on the length of daylight (during June & July the midnight sun gives 24 hours of daylight).
Only fly fishing allowed and the use of treble hooks is prohibited. Full catch and release applies to this fishery.
The maximum number of rods allowed to fish at any one time are four (4). It is quite common in Iceland for 2 fishermen to share one rod, which means that 8 people can share the 4 rods.
Please be aware that horse breeding is a huge industry in this area and horses often stroll down to the river banks and they could damage vehicles. No responsibilty of any kind is taken on behalf of the owners for damage done by these horses.
On the last day, fishing is allowed until 12:00 noon. Please, depart the lodge no later than 13:00.
