Fishing permits are sold as 3 or 6 day packages and both rods must be booked together.
The fishery operates the 'Afternoon to Noon' fishing policy which means the fishing starts in the afternoon at 16:00 on the first day purchased and must terminate by 12:00 on the day after the last day purchased.
On the first day, please arrive at the lodge around 15:00.
Fishing hours are maximum 6 hours in the afternoon and 6 hours in the morning depending on the length of daylight (during June & July the midnight sun gives 24 hours of daylight).
Only fly fishing allowed and voluntary catch and release is widely practiced. All salmon caught in Septemeber and all salmon measuring over 70 cm (27") must be released. A quota is in place limiting the catch to 20 salmon per rod per day.
The maximum number of rods allowed to fish at any one time are two (2). It is quite common in Iceland for 2 fishermen to share one rod, which means that 4 people can share the 2 rods.
On the last day, fishing is allowed until 13:00. Please, depart the lodge no later than 14:00.
The outfitter's name, emails and telephone numbers will be included in the joining instructions which are immediately sent by e-mail after the purchasing of fishing permits.
