If you are planning a fishing trip this week the Teviot is at a good height and colour, whilst middle and upper beats on Tweed are well worth a cast. The Annan is holding its height well and the river's temperature is just topping 9-10+ Celcius. For trout anglers there are some good hatches of Blue Dunn on the Annan. Levels and prospects are encouraging for those anglers casting a line on the North and South Esk. We would recommend you check the - latest fishing reports on the river you would like to fish, or contact Tom in the office on 01573 470612 who can help to arrange your trip.
With conditions on many rivers looking promising, there is ample affordable spring fishing for salmon and trout - find fishing.

Tom's first fish of the day was caught in the Gate pool. He was fishing the pool fairly fast as he is a big believer of fishing pools quickly and resting them. Working his way down to the tail of the pool, his first fish, a salmon of 12lb came across and took his fly. He played the fish quickly and as it went into the net the fly fell - read more.

With freshwater and higher water temperatures salmon are starting to move up the rivers and with these changing conditions beats further up will now start to fish well. Salmon will be moving higher up in the water, making them more receptive to the fly. You can now safely move on to floating and hover lines with sink tips as fish become more active in the warmer water - find fishing.
Top fly patterns for May are the Holo Silver Cascade, Junction Gunn, Spey Dog and Willie Gunn.
