There may be times during your visit when you do not wish to fish on certain days. There are plenty of things to see and plenty of places to visit in that eventuality within the Blackwater Valley, or within reasonable distances of it. Cork City. Cork is the second city within the Republic and has many fine restaurants and many sights to see. These include the English Market, Patrick Street and its shopping, Blarney Castle and the Blarney Stone, University College Cork, or even go to the theatre.
Fermoy. See the wedge tomb at Labbacallee, visit the Fermoy Country Market, or take the Barane Looped Walk.
Lismore. Visit the gardens of Lismore Castle, owned by the Duke of Devonshire, Lismore Heritage Centre, Lismore Cathedral, or take one of the Lismore Area Walks.
Mallow. Visit Mallow Heritage Centre, Mallow Country Market, or take all (or part of) the Blackwater Way (an extensive walk).
Middle Blackwater at Ballyhooly
Youghal. Take the Youghal Heritage Trail, or the Youghal Slí na Sláinte Linear Walk, or visit Youghal Heritage Centre.
