One and two day programmes will be set up. The venue that provides all the above criteria is Moorbrook Lodge near Castlerock. We are able to provide all the suitably qualified instructors necessary to deliver the programme.
Initial funding was required to set up a formalised programme:
• To write and produce work booklets
• To sell the idea to various bodies
• To buy necessary equipment and advertising
Bodies that will benefit from Bannstart:
• Schools
• Education Boards
• Schools Community Relations Project
• Cross community groups
• Local councils
• Youth groups/clubs
• Angling clubs
• Youth justice
• The general public
Necessary equipment:
• Rods, reels, lines are being supplied by a major tackle company
• Hats and glasses for safety purposes again to be supplied as above
• Pond dipping equipment
• First aid kits
• Educational packs
• Advertising
• Leader line and flies
• Drinks, crisps etc
It is proposed that Bannstart will develop to include the hatchery in the classroom project and a river watch/clean up programme. It is also hoped that this programme would actually be incorporated into key stage 2 and key stage 3 curriculum and I will work with the education boards in an effort to realise this.
