Game fishing in Ireland is for the usual species with the added bonus on the River Bann system of the dollaghan, a unique species of migratory brown trout.

As well as being one of Europe's top venues for coarse fishing, Ireland has a long coastline offering a wide range of sea angling opportunities with some surprising species to be found in the warm Gulf Stream.

Fishing the River Bann River Bann System
The Bann and its tributaries are notable salmon rivers, but also have sea trout, trout and dollaghan and some excellent coarse fishing.
Fishing the River Foyle River Foyle System
This provides approximately 900 miles of prime salmon, sea trout and trout fishing and is one of Ireland's most prolific grilse and summer salmon fisheries.

Whilst Ireland may at first appear as a small country, the sheer number of rivers both large and small, not to mention a whole host of loughs and smaller waters, can often overwhelm an angler wondering where to fish.

Often the best way to find the most suitable fishing in a particular location and time of year is to employ a guide.
