CAN DO Award for Innovation

FishPal have won the Scotland CAN DO Award for Innovation at the National Final of the Scottish Thistle Awards.

The Scottish tourism 'Oscars', now in their 28th year, are led by a panel of industry experts, celebrate tourism businesses or suppliers across the country who have gone the extra mile to offer an outstanding visitor experience.

Mark Cockburn, Chief Executive of FishPal Ltd, said: "We are a company that has grown massively during the last decade, with more rivers, beats, information and advice available to customers now than at any point before. Our audience is at a record level and growing, as we continue to develop the site with new and innovative ways to search and find fishing, our latest being 'map search'. As the "Go To" fishing company we are pro-actively searching to improve, help and support our customers; anglers, proprietors, river boards, advertisers and angling clubs.

I am incredibly proud of this achievement for which I have to thank the entire team for their hard work and passion for the sport. A huge thank you to those who help represent us at shows and festivals across the globe, spreading the word that Scotland is a world class fishing destination."

Held at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre, the national finals of the Scottish Thistle Awards revealed a total of 14 winners across a range of categories during a glittering evening ceremony hosted by comedian Fred MacAulay. The awards are a night to remember - Scottish tourism 'Oscars'.

Stephen Carter OBE, Chair of the Scottish Thistle Awards Industry Panel, said: "I would like to congratulate Mark Cockburn and FishPal for their dedication to Scotland's tourism industry. The Scottish Thistle Awards are about celebrating innovation, highlighting excellence and sharing best practice. Tourism is at the heartbeat of the Scottish economy, and all those nominated this year are industry leading ambassadors, positioning Scotland as the perfect place to visit and do business."

The judges commented on the numbers of users and bookings it has generated, judges described the site as a "great product, demonstrating excellent results." Judges also commented on the hard work by FishPal - Fish Scotland to "provide its customers with the best service and the most up-to-date information, whilst building links with fisheries and other businesses."
