Itchen House Fishery Latest Report

Last updated: Friday 9th May

Trout catches now stand at 72 for the season, many of our trout are still being caught on nymphs however they are frequently rising for dry flies too. We fished our first night for sea trout however they are a little thin on the ground at this time of year. Salmon have now been seen but none have yet been caught. Water levels have dropped and the water is crystal clear creating ideal conditions to stalk your quarry, additionally the mayfly hatch is starting. Congratulations to Stuart on catching a 2 1/2 lb brown trout on a mayfly the other evening.
Current favourite flies:
Goldhead Pheasant Tail Nymph
Montana Nymph
Iron Blue Dun
