The Tamar salmon season runs from March 1st to October 14th. The trout and sea trout season runs from 15th March to 30th September. Grayling fishing runs from 16th June to 14th March.

Season review

Season Review 2012.

March was very dry and warm with little rain ,fly life started hatching with good hatches of olives and grannom a few wild trout were caught on pheasant tail nymph's.

April saw catches of early Sea trout.The large spring tides and heavy rain brought in our first 2 Salmon caught by Member Mrs paula Jones 18lb at Thompsons,10lb at Beech Tree caught on a brown shrimp fly.

May was a good month for Sea Trout with 21 caught the biggest 6lb caught by Mr Jon Barnard at carthamartha on a black/orange tube.

June started off with heavy rain and another week of high coloured water. Member Mr Jeff Wehner caught a 14lb Salmon at Inny Croy on a black/yellow 2 inch tube. This was the wettest june on record since 1910 .

July was the same as june with heavy constant rain. member Mr James Medd caught a 7lb Salmon at Inny Croy on a flood flasher, His son Harry Medd caught our first grilse of the season 4lb caught at Inny Junction II on a flood flasher. Member Mrs Melanie Healy caught a 10lb Salmon at Gravel on a black tube.Member Edward Smyth Osbourne caught a 12lb Salmon at Leighwood croy on a orange/gold tube,His son Hector Smyth Osbourne caught 2 Salmon 9lb at Leighwood croy, 7lb at Endsleigh Ham.

Mr Rennie Miller caught a 25lb Salmon at Carthamartha Lower Run on a posh tosh 1 inch tube the largest Salmon caught at Endsleigh for many years. Member Mr Brian Peppiatt caught a 9lb Salmon at Endsleigh Ham on a 1 inch waddington black/yellow,His Grandson Fergus Bracher caught his first Salmon at Endsleigh a 9lb caught at LeighGate pool on a 1 inch blue mist.
After a 9ft river on the 14th July the highest summer level for many years and the constant high river levels for june and july fishing was very challenging , but july produced good catches with 31 Salmon and 23 Sea trout caught.

August started with our chairman Sir Richard Dearlove catching a 19lb Salmon at Leighwood Croy on a 2 inch yellow/red tube. Member Mr Arthur Manners caught a 7lb Salmon at Lowley Croy, 5lb Sea Trout at bush on a 1 inch cascade. Mrs Anne Manners caught a 7lb Salmon at woodtown Croy on a 1 inch cascade. After 4 days of heavy rain the river rose to 8ft 4 inches it took 3 days of river levels dropping before fishing conditions improved. Member Mr Martin Jones caught 2 Salmon 14lb at Inny Croy on a black/silver waddington,7lb Salmon at Gravel on a black/yellow tube. Mrs paula Jones caught 11'lb Salmon at Gravel on a kylie 2 inch Waddington. After heavy rain and high river levels throughout August fishing conditions were very difficult ,but despite weather conditions we caught more Salmon for August than last Season with 31 Salmon and 23 Sea Trout caught.

September started off fantastic with 15 Salmon caught over one weekend. Member's son Alex Medd caught his first 2 Salmon at Endsleigh 13lb caught at Georgy's Run ,6lb at Inny Junction II both caught on a 2 inch black/yellow tube. Members daughter Emily Medd caught her first Salmon at Endsleigh 5lb at Waterfall on a garry dog tube. Bertram Medd caught 2 Salmon an 8lb at Gravel, 5lb at Geory's Run caught on a 2 inch black/yellow tube.Harry Medd caught a 6lb Salmon at Gravel on a 1 inch black/yellow tube.Member Nick Medd caught 2 Salmon a 7lb at Lowley Run on a Alley Shrimp tube, 6lb Salmon at Inny Junction I on a 1 inch black/gold tube.Member Mr James Medd caught a 5lb Salmon at Inny Junction I on a 1 inch black/yellow tube. Member Mr Jeff Wehner caught a 6lb Salmon at Carthamartha on a 1 inch black/yellow tube. Between the 1st-11th september Endsleigh caught 31 Salmon .Member Mr Charlie Bracher caught a 8lb Salmon at Leighwood Croy on a 1 inch black/yellow tube, his son Fergus Bracher caught his 2nd Salmon at Endsleigh this season an 11'lb caught at Endsleigh Ford on a 1 inch thunder and lightening tube. Long standing member Dr Wilfred Medd caught a 8lb Salmon at Carthamartha on a 1 inch red tube. September was our best month this season for fishing conditions and our longest spell of unspoilt fishing with 44 Salmon and 17 sea trout caught.

October's weather continued with constant rain at night and heavy showers during the day keeping river levels high and coloured, there were only 3 Salmon caught in October.Mr Garath craze caught a 10lb Salmon at Higher Bush on a 2 inch black tube. Mr Alan White caught a 5lb Salmon at Cathamartha on a 2 inch black/orange tube. Mr william Trevelyan Thomas caught a 5lb salmon at Inny Croy on a posh tosh tube fly.

Considering the weather conditions this season with the highest rainfall this summer for 100 years our total catches of Salmon and Sea trout were very good with 131 Salmon caught the largest weighing 25lb and 88 Sea Trout Caught the largest 6lb. Lets hope next season's weather is an Improvement on 2012 season.
